Ryan, a truly excellent piece about a guy we both know and love. Billy and I grew up kitty-corner from each other, went to the same parochial grammar school and played baseball until it was dark some 60 years ago. You nailed his career as a "baseball lifer." He scouted and pulled for the underdog because where we grew up on the Southside of Chicago, we were all underdogs. As luck would have it, we both got drafted and got our shot to pursue our dreams. Brykie devoted his life so others could get their "shot". His tryout camps were his legacy. I write this with a heavy heart as we will say goodbye this week to our beloved friend. Rest easy, my brother.
